Ryan Xue is working at the intersection of food systems and climate change, co-founded and leads the China Plant-Based Foods Alliance (CPBFA), founded in 2018, and one of the first organizations to represent the plant-based foods and protein innovation sectors in China. CPBFA is backed by numerous Government organizations in China and connects more than 400 member organizations.
Ryan is particularly interested in the factors influencing consumer and government attitudes toward emerging protein sources. He also leads AgFood Future, a Beijing-based nonprofit that assists public and private sectors to address sustainable development challenges and enhance global Agri-Food decarbonization transformation through protein transition and innovation.
Ryan has strong knowledge of the climate and global agri-food industry, he is experienced in promoting Agri-food, climate, and tech initiatives, focusing on policy development, government relations, partnership building, and industry scaling in China. He developed a keen eye for emerging science with applications in sustainable protein, working with university academics and technology entrepreneurs to help new Agri-food start-ups and national brands alike to create new food, beverage, and snacking experiences from sustainable protein sources. In addition, Ryan is a regular speaker at climate, food, agriculture, and tech conferences.
