Wageningen University & Research (WUR) has made significant investments in large-scale research infrastructure to provide cutting-edge plant screening technologies in support of its world-class researchers. In collaboration with Utrecht University, WUR has designed and built the Netherlands Plant Eco-phenotyping Centre (NPEC) â a state-of-the-art research facility for large-scale, automated monitoring of plant growth over time.
During this tour, we will walk to the NPEC facility and visit two of its six modules:
- A fully automated greenhouse, where strawberry plants from the breeding company Flevo Berry are cultivated. Plant development is continuously monitored using advanced cameras and sensors, while the plants move on conveyor belts to imaging and watering stations.
- Climate-controlled growth chambers, where youâll explore various experiments. Highlights include a screening of wild crop relatives conducted by the institute KeyGene, and a barley experiment that uses rhizotron plates and cameras to monitor root development over time.
Limited to 20 attendees! Please note, this is a walking tour.
Secure your spot by registering via Networkapp, launching on May 7.Â
