Florian Jupe is driven by a commitment to sustainable agriculture with a strong focus on nurturing external innovation. His academic career stretches from understanding molecular plant-microbe interactions to applied phytopathology in a horticultural setting. He holds an MSc from Wageningen University (NL) and PhD from the University of East Anglia (UK), where his team at The Sainsbury Laboratory innovatively created potato plants with a hard-to-break resistance against the late blight pathogen. After postdoctoral research investigating the effects of large genome perturbations in plants at the Salk Institute (La Jolla, US), he joined Monsanto in St Louis (US) to pick up gene editing responsibilities in Plant Biotechnology, continued as Native Trait Discovery Lead in the Breeding organization before joining Crop Protection R&D in a strategic role in Monheim (Germany).
Currently, as the Strategic Partnerships Lead for Biologics at Bayer, Florian is responsible for connecting technology-based ecosystems and driving innovation for biocontrol and broader plant science.
