Ryoko Machida‑Hirano is a Liaison Scientist of the National Agriculture and Food Research Organization (NARO), Japan, based at Wageningen University & Research in the Netherlands. She is engaged in establishing new international collaborative research projects between Japan and EU countries, aiming to address global challenges in agriculture, food, and the environment. Leveraging NARO’s strengths as Japan’s core agricultural research institute, she promotes innovation in productivity improvement, climate change response, and sustainable agriculture, while strengthening international cooperation and public–private partnerships to ensure the effective societal implementation of research outcomes.
