Trained as a materials scientist and food technologist, Fred spent most of his career in R&D, quality and innovation management positions. After his PhD in Delft, he worked in contract research organisations for 13 years, and another 13 years at Darling Ingredients, a global company that transforms animal by-products into valuable ingredients for food, feed and fuel.
Since 2023, he is responsible for the strategic research program “Towards a Circular and Climate-neutral Society” at Wageningen University and Research.
